We are excited to announce the website redesign for Marsha Perry Photography. Marsha is one of our longest-standing clients, having been with Walls Media since December 2004.
Why design a new website? It was time for a change, as well as an updated look and feel. Marsha wanted to update her nine-year-old website so it would be better suited for new technology, such as iPhones and iPads. She wanted the ability to update her site on her own. Using WordPress as the new platform, we were able to give her an easy way to add new photos, content and links. She also wanted to have a blog where she could keep clients up to date on her latest projects.
Our new, sleek design is just what Marsha was looking for. The simple background allows for the photos to stand out to viewers. With photos varying from weddings to bar mitzvahs to travel, Marsha’s talent is clearly portrayed through her website.
Q & A with Marsha Perry
Q: Why are you wanting to have a new website designed?
A: I wanted my website to be more user-friendly with the ability to update the site on my own. It had been so long since I’d had an update, and I wanted it to be up-to-date with current technology.
Q: What is your favorite type of photography?
A: I love people and nature photography. I even like to mix the two together. Those are my two strongest suits.
Q: What type of photography do you wish you could shoot more of?
A: I wish I could shoot more travel and especially international photos. I recently took a personal trip to Ireland, and I’ve been to Egypt, Istanbul, Greece and Ephesis (to name a few).
Q: How long have you been a photographer?
A: For more than 20 years.
Q: How did you become a photographer?
A: My grandfather was an amazing photographer, so I was raised looking at great pictures. When my daughter Natalie was born, I realized I wanted to document her growing up through photography.
I took a photo course at UAB where I started out with a borrowed camera. It was then that I changed my major to fine arts. I then studied under a New York photographer and went on to teach photography at UAB for twenty years.
Q: What was it like for you to move from film to digital?
A: I embraced it. I worked with film in a darkroom for so many years. I was in on the front-end of cutting edge technology. It was easy to cross over to using computers. As a long-term Mac user, I love the new digital world and using Photoshop and Lightroom. After switching to digital, I donated my darkroom to Indian Springs to use for educational purposes.
Q: Why do you stay with Walls Media?
A: I just think they’re the best! I wouldn’t go anywhere else. We’re like family.
Q: Do you like working with other women in the business world?
A: It’s great. There weren’t that many women in this field at first, but now I think there are more women than men. I like working with the women at Walls Media because women are very detail-oriented, great at multi-tasking and are easy to work with. We can really relate to each other.
